Can I get a clarification on how many duplicates are present in mirror image? I'm under the impression that there are 4 objects, after the fact, as the spell says it creates 3 duplicates so that means 3 fakes and 1 real?
Then on the topic of mirror image and shield combo, lets say a creature successfully attacks the real one and then decides to use shield as a reaction, which comes first and which has priority?
Likewise, mirror image is not a concentration spell, so it can also be combined with spells like blur, in addition to shield
so that would be a 25% chance to pick the right target, disadvantage on the attack roll if you do, and a +5 bump to AC if the attack would originally hit.

Lyxen said it, but to reiterate:
Shield only applies when you are attacked and hit. The duplicates from Mirror image are not you, and you are not attacked if they are.
