So, the alter self spell, and the changelings shapechange abilitys let you change how you look to be whatever you want (within reason), but says the spell doesn't effect cloths. However, could l change my body to make it LOOK like i'm wearing cloths? Like, obviosly the fake cloths won't give any stats, and it'll just be roleplay, but am l right in thinking l could make "cloths", such as heeled boots or a dress or whatever, or would l just be limited to "skintight" cloths, like a leotard? (IE, could l elongate my heel to make heeled boots, or create a extra, loose layer of skin to hang off my body like a dress, with the color and texture reqired to make them look and feel like cloths, rather then skin?)
Edit: I just thought of something: one of the things you can 100% control is your hair, so logicaly, you should be able to make a outfit out of your body hair. And hair can be really tough, so maybe leg hair could become heeled boots?)
PS, l know this would likely depend on the dm, but l still felt like asking, as l'm makeing a changeling, and l want to know if they can change apearance like double Trouble from she-ra (the insperation for my character) and mystique from X-men.
I wouldn't allow it in my game. A changeling's shape-shifting abilities overtly calls out an inability to change clothes, and seems to imply that they're limited to organic humanoid forms. It would be totally overpowered if the race had the ability to completely shift form and clothing at will, even if it does mean that they're essentially walking around naked with no armor.
Speaking of armor, though, if you really want to accomplish this I'd recommend trying to get a set of Glamoured Studded Leather Armor.
Strangely Alter Self makes no clothing provision, unlike Disguise Self, which does.
Disguise Self is an illusion, and I presume it would be easier to change appearance with illusions rather than transforming the matter of both your body AND your equitpment with Alter Self.
What's great it that you can combine them (because disguise self is not a concentration spell)... alter self and put an illusion over it for a double disguise!

I'd say the closest you could manage is basically body paint. It might fool people from a distance or if they aren't paying attention.
