So I was just thinking of character builds and I want to ask that if a character has two lists of always prepared spells from any source and they have one or two spells that are in both lists, can you swap them for another one?
Like the Gloom Stalker Ranger and Conquest Paladin have the Fear spell in their lists. Races with the Mark of Passage has Misty Step and so does the Vengeance Paladin.
The rules only do what they say they do. While the rules may allow you to change a skill proficiency if you get the same one from class and background there is no such rule for always prepared spells.
Mark of passage allows you one casting of misty step if you want to use it more you can prepare it as a spell. If you are a non caster you get no benefit from it being added to your spell list and the same applies if you already have the spell on your list, though you will benefit from other spells for example unlike other vengence paladins a Mark of passage human can prepare pass without trace
If you allow multi classing to replace duplicate spells on their list there are likely to be a lot, and what, it any limits do you place on it. Is it the players chouice or the DM.
A class or feature that grant you a specific spell always prepared refer to this spell specifically and no other spell can be swapped for it if you already have it always prepared unless the DM says otherwise.
I know that there are some Sorcerer Subclasses that grant specific spells that don't count against the number of spells known, but can be swapped for other spells eventually, although usually with some restrictions. Are there any prepared spell subclasses that work in the same way? I'm not familiar enough with all the classes that have prepared spells to say for certain.

Alrighty, thanks guys!
