Tasha's gave sorcerers the Magical Guidance ability.
Magical Guidance
5th-level sorcerer feature You can tap into your inner wellspring of magic to try to conjure success from failure. When you make an ability check that fails, you can spend 1 sorcery point to reroll the d20, and you must use the new roll, potentially turning the failure into a success.
My question is do effects that buff ability checks like guidance also apply to the reroll? If my understanding is correct advantage/disadvantage doesn't but guidance is a little different.
If you'd had Guidance cast on you before the check, and rolled the d4, then that bonus still applies if you then use Magical Guidance; however, it only lets you reroll the d20, not the d4.

Yes, Guidance would still apply. The bonus is added to the overall ability check, not to a specific d20 roll. Rerolling the d20 doesn't make a brand new ability check.
