Silvery Barbs got a lot of debate when it first came out. Now that its been a few months I thought maybe people could start reporting back on their experiences with it from actual game play.
For myself I was playing an Aberrant Mind sorcerer at level 8 when it came out. I dipped a couple levels of warlock at 10 and 11, so I could cast it with sorcery points, had 2 pact slots plus my regular spell slots. I did find it to be very useful and was able to bypass devil's magic resistance on a couple occasions, I probably used it more for cancelling crits though. And I found giving the advantage to help either myself or another caster maintain concentration was the best use.
I do think in its own right it is probably a bit on the too powerful side. But I wouldn't say ban it because it burns through resources really fast and uses up your reaction. Most of the time I used it I didn't really need my reaction for anything else, though now and again I couldn't cast shield when I needed.
Bottom line, I think in actual gameplay it was about as strong as I thought it would be. But I didn't fully appreciate how resource intensive it could be. So I think I would still allow it in gameplay.
My opinion remains more or less the same as when it was published. It's a good spell, but at the time people overreacted to how powerful it is. I also have to say that it is a useful spell at any level. It's even more useful at higher levels, when spending a spell slot doesn't hurt as much as it does at lower levels. In any case, you have to think carefully when using it, since it leaves you without reaction for other things. But yes, in general it is a very good spell without breaking anything.

Sadly, my group hasn't had a session since I added it to my character sheet.
