The find familiar doesn't list dogs, but that might be something a DM could be open to (cat is on the list). Likely it would need to just have the same stats as a similar CR 1/4 or less creature.
You could reskin a cat with minor modifications: 1) Replace 'Climb' with "Swim" and 2) ignore the Claw because normal familiars cannot attack.
Call it "small dog" and be done with it.
Or you could use the Tomb of Annihilation's Wild dog which is a CR 0, but slightly more powerful than the standard familiar. It has 3 hp instead of 1, a slightly better attack (pack tactics AND a better to hit), but once again, familiars cannot attack.

Could you link to where that is referenced? I can't find it with the less than spectacular search bar.

did you know that you can use [ tag]name;alt text [ /tag] to include things like plurals? If you want jackals, you can have more than one.
I'm aware and I don't do it. Why type a word twice just to turn 1 letter red? I do it for wolves because it is spelled different. I use it when I want it to say something different like dog, dog, or dog.

Of note, the octopus also has 3 HP, and multiple familiars have 2 HP (and would have 3HP if they were small instead of tiny, like the jackal) I don't think its necessarily stronger than any of the other familiar options.

Yeah, honestly the pact tactics is really the only thing that sets it apart, and even that only applies to chain warlocks and the have CR1 familiars and don't care.
Thank you for the help everybody how to start making it myself and I'm the DM for my party but I'm also a player so I'm going to make the familiar myself my character is going to be in Eldritch knight.

Good (I think... I really how there wasn't a question in that 0 punctuation paragraph).

Hi is it possible for me to have a small dog as a familiar like a beagle?
And if so does anybody have the stat for a dog or beagle

I think modules use either mastiff or wolf when they need dog stats.

It's right here - they're jackals.

🙄 The search bar didn't find it because I didn't search plural...

I just think that a different color letter within a single word looks bad.
But I'm lazy.
Jackals there. Is that better?

So... Should be fine.
