So, during last night’s game a npc tried to grapple my character while I was under the effect of the Blur spell and both of us didn’t know if the grapple would be at disadvantage or if it wouldn’t matter in general. Somebody mind helping us out so we can know for next time?
Blur only imposes disadvantage on attack rolls. Grappling involves an opposed ability check instead of an attack roll. So Blur has no impact on grappling.
SagaTympana and Ophidimancer are correct, because Grappling calls for a contested skill check instead of an Attack Roll there is no interaction between Grappling and the Blur spell according to RAW. If you want a rational for this then consider this: If I give the Blurred target a hug I might be surprised by exactly when my arms come into contact with the target but I will still hug them.
Another similar spell is Mirror Image. However it does interact with anyone trying to Grapple you as it affects anyone trying to target you. To go back to the hugging example when I try to hug the target there are 4 of them in the same 5ft square. I pick one to hug and if it wasn't the right one my arms pass through the illusion. Granted what happens next isn't exactly clear as that depends on if you consider a Grapple success a "hit" or not.

Grapple IS an attack by RAW so how do you justify saying it isn’t an attack roll?
Because the rules say so? Grappling Rules
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
