Can someone please help me understand what this means (from the handbook) : "Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d10 (or 6) + your Constitution modifier per ranger level after 1st"
I understand I roll a 1d10 as a Ranger when I lvl up, but what is meant by "(or 6)"?
Does it mean that the lowest I can get is 6?
Or is it I can either take a flat 6, or take the risk of rolling a 1d10?
Hi all,

Thanks in advance
You either roll the d10 or take the fixed 6, then add Con modifier. Decide before you roll.
Taking the fixed amount has become the norm in 5e. It is faster, fairer, and statistically above the average roll anyway.
That makes sense.
Thank you for the help mate!
