Just to be super clear, everything that follows is just stuff that I thought would be cool, not a statement about poor design. If you know of such a system please share it.
As an outdoorsman irl I'd just like Beasts to be treated as equal to the other groups. I'd like there to be rare, super-dire versions of beasts that are on par with at least adult dragons. They could even have some nature magic or abilities. Some of them might essentially be demi-god offspring of bestial deities, like a super-direwolf that can use Summon Animals to summon fey wolves, a Huge Ram that can cause rock-slides and avalanches, a Jaguar that can use Tree Stride or a Shark that can use Control Water.
I didn't see anything like this when googling, so I realize it probably just doesn't exist and I'll have to just make creatures as I go, but it struck me as something that someone MIGHT have worked on before over the years. If you have your own legendary beast ideas please share!
DMs are encouraged to create their own monsters in the Dungeon Master's Guide Chapter 9. One way to create higher CR versions of Beasts would be to just take their current statblocks, but then just modifying their proficiency bonus, armor class, hit points, attack bonus, damage/round, and save DC according to the table in that section. Another would be to do something more similar to the creature "templates' that prior D&D editions had. Dandwiki normally has some pretty poorly-balanced homebrew on it, but the Dire template they have on their looks innocent enough as a jumping off point: want a Dire Brown Bear? Just give it some bonus stats, bump it up a size category, give it an extra point of AC and three more HD.... and then just rework the math on its basic attacks, easy enough. "Legendary Beast" or something could be even bigger.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
