So I am messing around with different character builds to get a better understanding of how the game works. I made a level 3 fighter with a strength score of 18. The character sheet is giving him a +10 to hit with a spear. I was under the impression that the to hit bonus was just the characters strength modifier (+4) + their proficiency bonus (+2). That only comes out to a bonus of +6. Should I be adding an the strength modifier twice to get the +10 bonus the sheet is giving me, or am I missing something else? Also the character sheet is saying that he has 2 attacks per action at 3rd level. Is he supposed to have 2 attacks before level 5, or is this a glitch of some kind?
Provide a link to the character sheet. Your intuition that something's wrong is definitely correct, but we'd need to look at the character sheet to identify the actual issue.
Your correct attack bonus for a spear is your Strength modifier + your Proficiency bonus as you said. D&D Beyond has a lot of glitches where modifiers are calculated incorrectly.
Similarly, you only have one attack per action until you reach L5 in Fighter. Using a spear, to get a 2nd attack you'd need to have the Polearm Master feat to make an additional attack using your Bonus Action. So it's another glitch in D&D Beyond.

Thank you, I didn't think I should have that extra attack or the added bonus, but In wasn't sure.
