My Way of the Four Elements Monk just leveled and obtained the elemental discipline Mist Stance. The duration for Gaseous Form is one hour. If he maintains concentration during that time can he shift between gaseous and solid without ending the spell? For example, gaseously go through the seams of a door, become solid and unlock said door, then return to gaseous form and continue on?
The Gaseous Form spell description any creature in this form can't get out of it unless the caster itself decides to terminate the concentration on it, in which case the spell ends. There is no specification on the possibility of jumping "in and out" of the form, but given how 5ed is usually worded, I'd say that means it can't be done. The only way to go back into mist form would be to spend another 4 Ki and uste the spell again.
Of course, should your DM allow, this can be changed :)

Yah it wasn't mentioned in the description about terminating concentration or anything like that, so it's ambiguous on that. Of course my DM will make a ruling, but wanted to get a feel for it.

It is mostly implicit in the each concentration spell description, but looking at the concentration rules it is specified that a caster can terminate concentration whenever they want, thus terminating the spell early.

If it doesn't say so it doesn't do so. Invisibility doesn't do it and neither does Polymorph. Why should this suddenly do more than it says in the description?
