My character's Longsword shows 1d8+3 in white and 1d10+3 in gray under the other. What does the numbers in gray mean and how do I know when to use which roll?
The longsword is a versatile weapon, which means that its damage varies depending on if you wield it with one hand or two. If you have something else in your other hand, such as a shield or a spellcasting focus, you should use the 1d8. Otherwise, you can use the 1d10.
