Constructs can take long rests, just like any other creature. You could also rule that casting mending lets a construct roll a hit die, as if they were taking a short rest. If nobody in the party can cast mending, maybe they could find a couple scrolls.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.

Warforged are not considered constructs, in game terms. Only autognomes are (I think) and in that case, they basically hand wave it and say the creator of the species made it so healing spells work. So, the easy way is to just let healing spells target constructs and then they work. Alternatively, some people like to go with the mending cantrip for this sort of thing. Or you can just let it get back to full on a long rest, make the player think about how often they want to send it into danger in a day.
If you houseruled Find Familiar to extend to construct, i don't see why you couldn't houserule healing spells and effects to extend to construct as well.

I am running Curse of Straud and one of the players has adopted the Animated Armor found in Van Richten's Tower as essentially a familiar.
It has gone too long to prevent this. The Animated Armor took some damage as is want to happen. But the user wanted to know how to heal the construct.
I could not come up with anything better than pouring a healing potion on the effected parts of the construct, at which the player balked.
Since the RoW I can find do not mention healing constructs, are there any better ideas?
If constructs are not able to be healed like normal players, what happens when a player who has chosen a Warforged as their race get healed?
Please help!!

Take it to an armorer to fix the damage. And maybe role a die to see if they were successful.
