So I recently made a warlock for fun to use in a future campaign. They have the eldritch spear invocation (making the range of eldritch blast 300ft) and the spell sniper feat, which doubles the range of spells (making eldritch blast now 600ft). My question is does that mean that my character can see something or someone 600ft away in order to target them with the spell? If so doesn't that make this abusable to say that my character has perception out to 600ft? And if I wouldn't be able to target something 600ft away does that make this combination worthless? Sorry for rambling it would me my first time having a non AoE spell with this far of range.
That combination doesn’t do anything about how far you can see. It means your Eldritch Blast spell can target any target that’s up to 600 feet away if you can see the target.
You see what you see, nothing in these abilities changes your vision. Of course EB doesn't specifically call for needing to see the target so you are just restricted by the normal targeting rules.
Did you think that your characters can't normally see 600 feet?
When traveling outdoors, characters can see about 2 miles in any direction on a clear day, or until the point where trees, hills, or other obstructions block their view. Rain normally cuts maximum visibility down to 1 mile, and fog can cut it down to between 100 and 300 feet.
On a clear day, the characters can see 40 miles if they are atop a mountain or a tall hill, or are otherwise able to look down on the area around them from a height.
Just because you can see that far, doesn't mean you can see clearly (which there are no rules for). That being said, at 300~600 feet you should be able to roughly identify medium creatures (visible weapons, demeanor, large symbols on their clothes/armor like for a kingdom, etc) even if not identify race or individual identity (IDK maybe most people have better vision than me). Double this range for each size category.

Thanks that is very helpful.
