i would like to ask you all for assistance with a wish spell
so for context at my table we have a rule where every wish is twist the wish-able so would like to ask for creating a legalese wish to teleport from point a to point b
thank you in advance

if i say something inflammatory the intention is not to trigger an emotional response and the fact that it does so is purely accidental and I sincerely apologise if it does

Use it to replicate the effect of teleport. No need to use the second clause.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

I guess you could say "I wish to replicate the effect of the teleport spell" and then say where you want to go. I can't really think of how that could backfire while still following the request.

If you want a full statement, but to keep it short, you could do something like "I wish to safely and instantaneously relocate to <some other location>", being as specific as you like about the location, e.g- "a top floor bedroom at Trollskull manor in Waterdeep".
This should avoid most nonsense your DM will throw at you, since "safely and instantaneously" prevents them messing with the timing or teleporting you 500 feet above the target location or something. But how complicated and specific you need to get depends on your DM.
For example, if you want to teleport others you'd need to change the start to "I wish to safely and instantaneously relocate with <X, Y, Z> to <location>", and you might need to extend the location to something like "an existing top floor bedroom at Trollskull manor in Waterdeep, preferring an unoccupied room if available", this way you can't be wished into a newly created room attached to the building that has no way out, preferring an empty room means it will happen if possible but without failing if there are no unoccupied rooms etc.
So yeah, it really depends how hard your DM tries to twist the wishes.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
However, a rule is it has to be a simple sentence. only 1 clause and no conjunctions. with only 1 adjective. so no commas etc.
I don't consider the first part of the wish to be part of the rule. i.e. "I Wish (to or I etc)"
I wish to have blue hair. you hair is blue.
I wish I had blue hair. you now have a memory of having blue hair
For teleporting I think it should still follow the rules of teleportation in that it should be a familiar place. And if they know the place and set in their mind ahead of time a specific location name for example. They can say something like
Maybe you could wish for a benevolent wizard who is familiar with your target city to appear in front of your party to immediately and without payment cast the teleport spell to send you to a safe part of your target city. That way the teleport is just the spell, and not part of the wish, whereas the wish is just bringing someone to you who will cast the spell for you.

Never underestimate the power of, "I wish for all my future wishes to be granted in good faith."
Ah, but which faith? If your wishes are granted in "good faith" from a Bhaalite perspective then they're going to involve a lot of murdered innocents… 😈

And DMs should never underestimate the power of just saying “no” when someone tries to game the system with Wish. There is no such thing as a perfect Wish, because the DM expressly has both broad latitude in what result you get and outright veto power.
Granted. 1 million gold pieces appear above you and pin you to the ground. Your lungs are pushed down and you cannot breath enough to make another wish. And you cannot die.

Player: I wish for 1 million gold pieces
