I understand most summoned creatures are at their base stat level when you summon them. In regard for summoning the same creature as a higher level, does that raise the CR?
For example, take the spell Summon Beast. If I summon a CR 1 (Dire Wolf), but try summoning it at a higher creature level (lets say level 2), would that increase its CR? I also understand that monster stats don't increase that much from one level to another. In this case, for high level characters in a homebrew, trying to use Summon Beast at a higher slot level for a higher level creature.
Monsters don't have levels (except sidekicks, but that is sort of separate from monsters).
There isn't a spell called "summon beast" but there is conjure animals. It tells you what happens when you cast the spell with a higher level slot, such is it increases the number of animals summoned. It can summon animals stronger than a dire wolf like polar bear, but doesn't summon a wolf with bonuses to stats.
