Ok, for this imagine you are a 14 phantom rogue and 6 wizard of scribes.
You are in ghost form next to a wall and there is a creature on the other side (10ft. away). You have summoned your manifest mind on the other side 5ft away from the creature.
1st question. Holding a whip granting you 10ft reach, the creature moves away from the wall provoking an AoO if you can see it. The manifest mind lets you see and hear what it does telepathically. Can you take this AoO?
2nd question. You cast booming blade through the manifest mind. What happens?
also: does the manifested mind count as an ally if within 5 ft. to trigger a sneak attack?
I’ve been in a deep rabbit hole trying to create a reliable way to do 2 sneak attacks per round with a phantom rogue using his unique ghost walk feature. Blindsense, tremorsense and blindsight all failed me when it comes to “seeing” a target behind full cover. Now I’m trying to figure out the interaction with manifest mind and possibly find familiar’s shared vision. Any sources that might solve this are greatly appreciated.
On the first question, I'm going to say no because you are on one side of the wall and the target is on the other. There is nothing about the manifest mind feature that would allow an OA reaction to happen from the location of the mind.
As far as the second question goes, you would be casting booming blade on your turn from the location of the mind, which is 5' away from the target. The fact that you are on the other side of the wall is not a problem in this case, because you are effectively casting from the location of the mind. I say it works... but I don't see how this would help you get a second sneak attack in a round.
1) The enemy provokes an opportunity attack from you but still benefits from the total cover that exists between you and the enemy. The total cover makes the enemy an invalid target for an attack, which includes opportunity attacks. - https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/combat#TotalCover
2) I can see other DMs ruling this differently but here is my opinion. Because Manifest Mind says "...you can cast it as if you were in the spectral mind’s space..." I would allow you to cast Booming Blade and make the attack it calls for as if you were in your spectral mind's space. This means the enemy would not be benefiting from total cover anymore and you would be able to make the attack as normal.
Also, if you haven't already, take a look at Echo Knight.
The ability to pop your spectral mind into any spot within range, even if you cannot see that spot, is quite powerful. Chris from Treantmonk's Temple recently did a deep dive on the power of manifest mind as it is written. It's strong for a 6th level feature.
You can't target creature with total cover from you, wether it's an Opportunity Attack or a melee attack from Booming Blade spell. While you can cast a spell as if you were in the spectral mind's space with Manifest Mind, it doesn't allow you to attack through walls, use Sneak Attack or Franking with it because it's an object rather than a creature.

This is probably how I would rule it, but RAW, I don't think it holds up. Manifest Mind says you can cast the spell as if you were in the mind's space, and if you were in the mind's space, the attack wouldn't be made through a wall.

I think the point of contention is whether the weapon attack, which is part of the spell, would be made from the position of the spectral mind rather than from the position of the caster. I feel like it would be, but I can see how someone else might say that it wouldn't be.

I don't know, while you cast it as if you where in spectral mind's space, you are still in your space when making the attack as opposed to Manifest Echo for exemple. It's how i'd rule it too.
Yep. It comes down to how much of the spell's description (in terms of what happens from your position) is rewritten by Manifest Mind. Proceed as you prefer :)

No to both. Whether you can see something or not, you can't target something behind total cover.

Thanks for the replies.
how about using the manifested mind as an ally next to an enemy to enable sneak attack damage? Would it qualify?
No. It's an object, not a creature.
