I don't understand the 2nd 2nd part of the spell. If any creatures did not see the spell being cast, do they have to stop at the edge of it and take the search action.
And if they fail, they just run through it and if they pass, they can "choose" to run through it?
The creature does not have to see the spellcaster cast the spell -- it must witness the area in question transform in order to automatically know that the area is hazardous. Otherwise, if the creature happens to take a Search action while looking for traps and hazards and.such then they have a chance to detect it. Otherwise, the creature just doesn't know that it's there.
The spell does not compel a creature to take a Search action. That's something that the creature would have to initiate on its own.
