I was Wondering if this was a Oversight , a Deliberate choice or anything in Between.
The 3rd Level Gloom Stalker feature Umbral Sight states.
At 3rd level, you gain darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvisionfrom your race, its range increases by 30 feet.
What is with darkvision, not from your race ? like the Shadow Sorcerer feature Eyes of the Dark, or the Twilight Clerics Eyes of Night, clearly your character has darkvision, would there be any reason to not allow these to work ?
We can't tell if it's an oversight or if it's by design considering not all darkvision originate from race and few exist from other sources but that distinction specifically exclude them RAW.
Hollow unbreakable arrows are the most OP common magic item, and my current method of coming up with insane combat shenanigans.
if you make a steel pipe with one end closed and a nozzle on the other, you can enlarge it, fill with any liquid, and then drop concentration, creating a high pressure squirt gun. (or a pipe bomb, depending if it holds)

The darkvision spell would be a pretty common source of darkvision explicitly excluded by this feature. It could be the wording was intentional to avoid having the Gloomstalker feature enhance darkvision from other sources than race.

Exact;y the Darkvision or Arcane Eye spell or even Guardian of Nature also granting darkvision withtin the very same book that Umbral Sight was published. It's safe to assume they know other ways exist to gain darkvision other than your race and that it's not an oversight but a deliberate design choice.

It might be a design oversight, but the wording is very clear in this instance.
"Not all those who wander are lost"
Maybe an oversight, maybe intended... remember, that multiclassing is an optional rule, so this is most probably one for your DM.
We can't tell if it's an oversight or if it's by design considering not all darkvision originate from race and few exist from other sources but that distinction specifically exclude them RAW.
This is probably just an oversight.

I agree.
