The 2024 version of Great Weapon Master has two benefits.
One allows dealing extra damage with a Heavy weapon. This is explicitly limited to attacks made as part of the Attack action on your turn. This does mean that for most characters it will not work when using a spell like Booming Blade, Green-Flame Blade, or the new version of True Strike, because casting those spells uses the Magic action. However, some characters (such as Eldritch Knight Fighters from level 7 and up) do have the ability to cast cantrips as part of the Attack action, and in those cases it will work.
The second benefit allows making an extra attack as a bonus action after scoring a critical hit with a melee weapon or reducing a creature to 0 hit points with a melee weapon. This is not limited to attacks made with the Attack action and can therefore be used after an attack with one of those spells. However, since it still requires a bonus action to use, it generally can only be used on your own turn, and not in response to an attack that was already made using a bonus action.
For the first benefit, I think so, but it should interact with those weapon-based cantrips if you cast the cantrips as part of the Attack Action thanks to Eldritch Knight's War Magic, College of Valor Bard's Extra Attack, or Bladesinging's Extra Attack.
EDIT: I got ninja'd with a superb answer! kudos to wagnarokkr!
is it correct to understand that the new GWM no longer work with BB,GFB and true strike since GWM states it have to be part of the attack action?
