Just wanted to clarify some things I saw on YouTube. Saw a bonkers combo that, upon further investigation, is basically homebrew.
Are these things true?
- Warlock 2024 doesn't state all invocations can be applied to Warlock cantrips. It just says inside the invocation that it can be applied to Warlock cantrips, so its specific and not general.
- Lance of Lethargy is only in the 2014 PHB and specifically applies to Eldritch Blast, which is its prerequisite. Therefore, while it might be used on a new Warlock, it still only applies to EB.
- Ray of Frost is not a Warlock spell, even if a Warlock can cast it. Therefore, Warlock Invocations do not apply to it.

Am I missing something here?
Ray of Frost can be taken via Pact of the Tome and spells taken that way “function as Warlock spells for you”. Thus, RoF would be eligible for Agonising Blast and for Repelling Blast, if acquired through PotT. (If you obtained RoF from a feat, e.g. Magic Initiate (Wizard), or a Species feature, e.g. as a High Elf, it wouldn’t be a Warlock spell and so would be ineligible.)
RAW, Lance of Lethargy can only be applied to Eldritch Blast. (However, it would be a very reasonable homebrew to allow it to apply to other Warlock cantrips.)
RAW I would say this doesn't work, however a Bard (College of Valor)/Warlock Multiclass could achieve something similar, using a Longbow and Valor Bard's extra attack, you perform a longbow attack (slow) or heavy crossbow attack (push) and then casting Eldritch Blast with Lance of Lethargy and Repelling Blast, the only issue is that it requires weapon mastery and neither Bard or Warlock get weapon mastery, it can however be picked up via Feat.
Additional issue is it is slightly MAD needing DEX and CHA, however that isn't a big issue for a ranged character and can later be made SAD using Pact of the Blade and binding a magical longbow/heavy crossbow as a pact weapon.

I agree with ThelenyiWhinlaw
I just wanted to say that Ray of Frost was indeed mentioned in the next video pre-release (around 9:44): New Warlock | 2024 Player's Handbook | D&D (youtube.com)
Great responses, thanks :D

If you can somehow get EB to do, or add, slashing damage you can also add the 2024 Slasher feat to it reducing it by another 10ft.
