This isn't really a question, more like a random thought to share.
Was the change in Hunter's Mark making it now applicable to weapons, unarmed strikes, or spells previously mentioned in an Unearthed Arcana? I don't recall reading about this change in DDB articles or interviews before the 2024 rules release. Maybe I missed something.
I feel it's a significant change for the spell to appear in those articles or videos. In my case, I didn't know about it until I read the new book.
I'm guessing there's no official explanation for this change (?) Which is good TBH.
The version of Hunter's Mark included in Playtest 6 has the following text:
Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d6 Force damage to the target the first time you hit it with an attack roll on any turn.
Which allows it to apply to any type of an Attack, but notably, only once per turn. The spell is not revised in any of the other Unearthed Arcana Player's Handbook Playtest Documents.

Interesting. I really appreciate your answer.

🎵I'm on top of the world, looking down on creation, wreaking death and devastation with my mind.
As the power that I've found erupts freely from the ground, I will cackle from the top of the world.🎵
