There’s a pack of them coming in September in the FR players book. And the artificer update, possibly with a new subclass in an eberron book.
Beyond that, well just have to wait as they release new books. I don’t believe anything else has been formally announced.
It's entirely possible that we won't get the other half of the base Wizard subclasses in that book; the UA about this doesn't seem to hint at it at least.
That said, any old subclass that isn't reprinted is usable with the 2024 base class. (For example, you can play a 2024 School of Necromancy Wizard using the 2014 PHB subclass.)
Why did they remove the necromancer from the new players handbook?
It's not that they removed it. They simply chose to print four subclasses for each of the twelve base classes, and it wasn't chosen to receive an update yet. They did this with the knowledge that the old version of the subclass is still 100% compatible with the new version of the class.

That is a bit faulty logic for new players. You get the latest PHB and that is it. Use the new rules/descriptions and ignore the past. If I as a new player, am investing in the latest PHB, I don't want to go back and locate old stuff.

And? If you’re a new player with no existing purchases, then you get what you pay for. If you’re an existing player who already purchased the first 5e PHB, you can still use what you’ve already paid for. These are two separate but compatible products; there’s no reason why owning one should provide access to the other.

Sorry for the naive questions, and another apology if this is in the wrong forum, but when and how will new subclasses be released?
I miss several of the classics, most notably all the Wizard schools. I was hoping we'd get a few more in the 2024 DMG.
Do we know what the approach will be?
Bonus points for any release timeline.
