There are a few monsters in the 2024 rules that explicity state that they can breath air and water, however, many monsters don't seem to specify this at all.
Since creature type doesn't carry rules it seems strange to be able to drown a water elemental or water weird?
Did I miss something?
Thanks in adance!
PS running Vecna on d&db with the new monsters is a blast my players are having alot of fun!
Suffocation specifically begins stacking Exhaustion levels once it takes effect, and the two examples you gave both have immunity to the Exhaustion condition. In theory I guess this streamlines the block now that it's implicit in the condition immunities rather than needing to be spelled out as a feature, but it is a lot less obvious or intuitive to look at.
