An odd situation has come up in one of my games, wherein a PC has cast Maze on the chapter's BBEG, while he was concentrating on a Dominate Person spell. We're curious how that interaction will work... nothing in Maze seems to break the concentration, but at the same time, the caster and target are now on different planes of existence! Some things we've considered...
Maze breaks the connection between caster and target, and the spell fails.
Maze suppresses the connection between caster and target, and the spell stops working (similar to an anti-magic field) while the Maze spell is active.
Maze does not interrupt concentration, so the target remains dominated, following the last given orders.
Maze does nothing to the spell, and it continues to work as normal, including maintaining the telepathic link.
Dominate Person and Maze both require concentration. You can only concentrate on one spell at a time so as soon as Maze is cast, the concentration on the other spell is broken.

Ah, in that case it would seem that the spell remains active, and the target remains charmed, but there is currently no telepathic link with which to issue any future commands. I suppose it would continue to follow the last given orders if there were any.
You banish a creature that you can see within range into a labyrinthine demiplane.
You have a telepathic link with the Charmed target while the two of you are on the same plane of existence.
Maze specifies demiplane, meaning you're no longer on the same plane. Dominate has a specific line that talks about being on separate planes and nothing about it says concentration is lost or the spell breaks under those circumstances. That said, if the order isn't completed, the Dominated monster is still under its effects.

That's what I ultimately landed on. Dominate Person remains in effect for its normal duration, unless otherwise broken (via Dispel Magic, damage to the target, etc). The target will continue attempting to fulfill any orders already given (e.g. "destroy your allies") until it cannot do so, at which point it will defend itself as best possible.
Meanwhile, the BBEG is stuck in the Maze until that concentration drops (or the spell runs its course)... which could result in plenty of problems for the heroes for completely separate reasons. The BBEG can't contact his Dominated target, but neither is there any effect that could remove him from said maze beyond succeeding at an intelligence check.

Hmm, that's an interesting scenario. Would the BBEG even want to get out of the Maze, or would they be content to chill while their Dominated minion caused some chaos?

Thoughts?

As a clarification:

Agreed. Specifically because:
Maze specifies demiplane, meaning you're no longer on the same plane. Dominate has a specific line that talks about being on separate planes and nothing about it says concentration is lost or the spell breaks under those circumstances. That said, if the order isn't completed, the Dominated monster is still under its effects.

That or running out the 10 minute timer.
