In these particular cases you've mentioned, I don't think there's a meaningful difference. There might be some worlds where a day isn't 24 hours, but that's something the DM should work out with you ahead of time. "Powdered Diamond" and "Diamond Dust" sound like the same thing to me.
The reason they use slightly different wording is probably because the book was written by several people working together.
Mechanically, these are the same. 1 Day = 24 hours. Technically, Powered Diamond and Diamond Dust are different material components and since they have a cost and are consumed, the safe option is that they are not interchangeable. If you are playing with a regular table, ask your DM. I think a strict RAW reading would be that they are different items; it doesn't matter that they essentially mean the same thing. I personally wouldn't hold to that, but I can't speak for every table.

Apart from spells, neither Diamond Dust or Powdered Diamond are listed as purchasable things, so I'm not sure how much merit that holds.

I'm not sure about that. Couldn't "1 Day" mean until the next morning? In a 24 hour period you have a period of day and a period of night. What if a spell duration was "one night" ... I think most people would not say that is NOT 24 hours....it just lasts for the nighttime, and when the sun rises it's over. So maybe "1 Day" could mean until sunset?

Given that we are talking about spells, "apart from spells" doesn't apply. They are purchasable because they are spell components with a cost and you need to have the exact component listed. Some tables may allow any form of ground up diamond to take the place of Powdered Diamond or Diamond Dust. Others will say that these represent a different degree of coarseness to the grinds and they cannot be substituted for each other. Ask your DM before you count on one approach or the other. Assuming that they cannot be substituted is the safest option if you cannot discuss it with your DM in advance for whatever reason.

No. That would be "until the next morning", until sunrise", or "until sunset". Those are parts of a day. One Day is 24 hours unless a given world has a different number of hours for the planet to rotate completely.

I definitely can see that argument. But consider this, when you look up the word "day" in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the first definition is as follows. Also important to note that as respects dictionary rules, the first listed definition is the MOST PROMINENT.

Definitions 2 and 3 are more applicable to measuring durations. The context of definition one is the duration of daylight.
2 astronomy : the period of rotation of a planet (such as earth) or a moon on its axis the length of one day on Mars
3 : the mean solar day of 24 hours beginning at midnight by mean time open seven days a week the first day of every month Take one pill two times a day.
On Earth or an Earth-like planet, a duration of 1 day means 24 hours. Those are the most relevant definitions of "day" to this conversation.
I am confused about how some Spell say different things even they in theory mean the same unless i am missing somethin?
For example in the Players Handbook the Spell Forbiddance lists a Duration of 1 Day while the Spell Animal Friendship lists a Duration of 24 Hours.
Also while the Spell Glyph of Warding lists Powdered Diamond as Material while the Spell Greater Restoration lists Diamond Dust as Material.
Is there a difference in mechanics or do i miss anything else that is different as a none native English speaker why Powdered and Dust are different?

I would imagine this is because a lot of different people work on the spells.
