The spell Shapechange states: "... and you must have seen the sort of creature at least once."
The True Polymorph spell does not have this restriction.
When a character with access to both spells (Bard, Wizard) "True Polymorphs" another creature into a creature of his choice (of course within the CR/level range, and other rulings), does this count as having seen the creature in order in order to use this form later on with the Shapechange spell?
Simple, hypothetical example: A level 18+ bard "True Polymorphs" one of his level 18+ companions into a Cosmic Horror, which he had never seen before (but the spell allows it), can he from there on use this form for his Shapechange spell, as he has now basically seen it?
I know that this might be painful experience due to the Horror's Psychic Whispers, but that's not the point here.
Given True Poly transforms you into that sort of creature, looking at it would count as looking at that sort of creature and would thus meet the criteria for Shapechanger.

I guess I'd ask how the character had knowledge of a Cosmic Horror, but yeah that is one way to do it.
How about an illusionary version of a Cosmic Horror? Would that work as well?
