I am looking for some advise for a ruling on the use of hunters mark and phase spiders. While fighting a group of phase spiders I used Hunters Mark on spider 1 following spider 1’s go it phased into another plain. When it got back to my next go spider 2 and 3 had appeared I asked could I move my hunters mark, on the night the DM couldn’t find a ruling on this so decided to let me move my hunters mark on my next turn as a bonus action as if the spider had been reduced to 0 hp. Was this the correct ruling or is there a way this should be treated in future for if a creature disappears to another plain?
" If the target drops to 0 hit points before this spell ends, you can use a bonus action on a subsequent turn of yours to mark a new creature."
Per rulebook the target creature must drop to 0 hp before a bonus action can be spent to move the hunter's mark to a new target. That being said, I houseruled my group's game to allow hunter's mark to be moved as a bonus action regardless of whether the target had dropped to 0 hp. Makes the spell a little better but doesnt break anything.

Hi all,
I am looking for some advise for a ruling on the use of hunters mark and phase spiders. Was this the correct ruling or is there a way this should be treated in future for if a creature disappears to another plain?
Thanks
