I have a player in my OOTA campaign that is a shadow monk. They are regularily with faerzress and wanted to know how does the faerzress abilities (wild magic table fore exemple, or the shadow TP) apply to him. For him it's not magic as he uses KI and he jumps from shadow to shadow, for me he uses magic but the price to pay id not "mana" but KI. Also bonus question, the force field spell can it block is teleportation via the shadows?
You haven't specified if your player is playing a Way of Shadow Monk (2014/5e) or a Warrior of Shadow Monk (2024/5.5e) so I'll do my best to address both. Going through the bullet points of faerzress:
Everything being dim light doesn't affect either subclass version
Divination stuff is largely irrelevant to the question
Both versions explicitly say teleport so your player would need to make the saving throw
All spells listed in both subclass versions say you cast the spell, which is all that's needed for the final bullet:
"When a spell is cast in a faerzress-suffused area"
And yes that is what I was thinking, but wanted to be sure. They are going to do a big fight in a faerzress filled cavern and wanted to cover the subject
Hello to all,

Thanks for the clarification ^^

I think that answers what you were asking?

What does "faerzress" mean?
Yes sorry I was talking about 5e, not 5.5e.
And yes that is what I was thinking, but wanted to be sure. They are going to do a big fight in a faerzress filled cavern and wanted to cover the subject
Google is your friend: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Faerzress
pronouns: he/she/they
They did give enough context for it, but even so: https://www.dndbeyond.com/search?q=faerzress
