So this week, I thought I'd give my players an eversmoking bottle to see what they would want to do with it. However, some things are not clear for me (and my players).
We were wondering first if it was a one use only item ? If not, can I open it, close it next turn, re-open it the turn after and create another 60-foot radius cloud of smoke ? Or would it recharge like every short or long rest ?
Also, if I keep it open and move, does it leave a trail ? How wide would you say ?
So many headaches. I am leaning towards the "infinite usage + small trail (less than 5 ft wide)" but hey, I will appreciate any feedback on this !
My interpretation is that it’s an unlimited use item and when it’s opened there’s an immediate 60’ radius cloud of smoke. Since it dispersed in 10 minutes, I’d say that walking with the bottle will result in creating a 60’ radius cloud of smoke every round. But since it’s impossible to see through the smoke, walking without falling limits you to 1/2 of your movement unless you want to make saves to not trip and running into things is a very real danger.

Thanks ! I did not think about the 1/2 speed.
Also, for the command word, would you consider it to be spoken at a distance ? (I would, but I also want another point of view if possible)
I'd say that you have to be holding the bottle for speaking the command word to work, but that's my interpretation. Yours doesn't change it much.
