About the Prone condition

Hi there, Midgardians!

I have a question regarding the Prone condition:

If I willingly become Prone, would that count as an action? Would I spend half my speed to do it?

Hello! You can definitely go prone willingly. From the 2024 PHB:

"Dropping Prone

On your turn, you can give yourself the Prone condition (see the rules glossary) without using an action or any of your Speed, but you can’t do so if your Speed is 0."

It's beneficial to do if you expect to be attacked from far away (because they'll have disadvantage) and a pretty bad idea if you expect to be attacked from close up (because they'll have advantage).
