This is less about the rules and more about the mechanics of the site itself. I created variant human ranger and selected duel wielder as my variant human race feat. I'm wielding two shortswords. However my AC (which should bee 17 because of the +1 from duel wielder) is still 16 on the sheet. Am I doing something wrong? Instead of wielding both swords is there a way to make the 2nd sword be in the off-hand?

Yes, click on one of the weapons, then Customize and toggle Dual Wield.
