Question: could you leave a concentration spell that you casts range and it keeps going? For example, I cast Heat Metal on a paladin. I then move out of 60ft from him. Does the spell continue? Or no?
If you’re concentrating on a spell, do you need to maintain line of sight with the spell’s target?
You don’t need to be within line of sight or within range to maintain concentration on a spell, unless a spell’s description or other game feature says otherwise.
With Heat Metal, the more relevant question is, "If I use the spell and the guy runs away with his biscuits burning, does the spell keep going?" And of course the answer as stated above is yes :) He's much better off charging you to attack and trying to break your concentration, but he may not have the presence of mind to do so.

Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
This is actually a rules question. See: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/sage-advice/rules-spellcasting
I think I’ll save that link. Thank you, very much.
