"A cantrip is a spell that can be cast at will, without using a spell slot and without being prepared in advance. " I just want to make sure I understand. Cantrips do need to be prepared, in other words, if I have a list of Cantrips but want to change one, I still have to take a long rest to do so. Correct? Thanks!
I had one DM who let me change one cantrip when I leveled up, but it was a house rule. As written you can’t ever change your cantrips once you pick them.

Nope. You can't change cantrips once you choose 'em, but they're always "prepared".
I might allow a character to change a cantrip with downtime, but that would have to be a house rule.
