Background: So I'm in a friend's campaign as a Changling Wizard. During our first session we made it to level 3. However because i was worried for our safety and my DM seems to like Homebrew Mini-bosses I decided I wanted to take 1 level in Cleric so that i can have some healing spells (might add a couple more levels later but whatever). So my lvl 2 was as a Cleric which was good because Spare the Dying saved our Monk. Once we beat the DM's miniboss i hit Lvl 3 so i'm taking my second lvl in Wizard.
So my question, if I understand the multiclass rules correctly i'm a lvl 3 spellcaster with 4 lvl-1 spell slots, and 2 lvl-2 slots. Since i'm a lvl 2 Wizard i get two new spells for my book. Can I pick lvl 2 spells since i do have the spell slots, or do i still need to wait for lvl 2 spells?
This question came up because the D&D beyond character creator won't let me add lvl 2 spells even though i have the slots.
PS: i have the same issue with Cleric. I can't get any level 2 spells for Cleric or Wizard on the D&D Beyond Character creator. Can you just not do it, or is the creator just not allowing it?
Oh okay. So even though I have the spell slot, i have to follow the individual classes. I misunderstood but it does say "Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots, as shown on the wizard table."
Hi everyone. So I have a rule question.

The amount and level of spells you can learn when multiclassing is based on the individual class.
Multiclassing only effects spell slots, not spells. You can still use the higher slots for upcasting a spell.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. Thank you.
