The creation bard has a 6th level ability to create a construct from an object, and it has the following in its statblock:
Irrepressible Dance. When any creature starts its turn within 10 feet of the item, the item can increase or decrease (your choice) the walking speed of that creature by 10 feet until the end of the turn, provided the item isn't incapacitated.
Since the construct is starting its turn within 10 feet of itself, and it is now a creature (unless that is not true?) Can't it buff its own movement?
This seems correct; anything that has a monster stat-block is a creature, in the case of animated armours/objects/whatever they are also constructs as opposed to beasts, humanoids etc.
So yeah, it absolutely starts within 10 feet of itself, so should be eligible to modify its own speed at the start of its turn. It would probably be easier to just say "other creatures" and set its walking speed to 40 feet, but it is the way it is.
