I'm in a campaign where a bunch of us have essentially been issekei'ed into a fantasy world and are at level three. the character I'm using used to work part time in auto repairs, so they're the type of alchemist who's trying to use their magic to power scraped together machinery. So I was wandering if there was a way to easily get some kind of gasoline to power a potential engine (passion project, no more walking or horses) when my mind wandered to the alchemy jug. How much would you lot rule as the max liquid per day, or just if it would be possible at all (2nd option if become transmutation wizard).
An alchemy jug cannot produce anything besides what’s printed in the description. And looking over Transmutation Wizard, there’s no way for you to produce gasoline with the class features and Creation only produces vegetable matter or mineral products. If you want to attempt this, there’s pretty much nothing short of Wish that might work for it, and that’s still subject to DM discretion. And that’s setting aside all the other factors against a part-time mechanic having any chance of figuring out how to produce an internal combustion engine from memory in a medieval tech base setting. If you really have your heart set on this, talk to your DM, but there’s nothing in the rules that gives you carte blanche to create any kind of petroleum product.
Yeah, I’d go more the magi-tech route. Who needs gas when you can trap an electrical or fire elemental and use it to power your vehicle? Or find a zombie to ride a bike that powers it? Start thinking in terms of your new world.
