I have some older campaigns that I written for 3.5 and Advance D&D(1980's Red Box) I want to upgrade them to 5E Adventure League standards with Standard Array rolling..
I am not planning to use these campaigns in Adventure League, but I want to make them compatible enough to use the AL Standards(PHB+1).
The reason(using AL Standards) why is my son was trying to run one of my old campaigns and we had some hotshots(Level 1, all ability scores 18 and skills from DND and non DND Books) come in and ruin the game for everyone else(too over powered). So my son and I agree on using the AL Standard with standard array for rewriting my old campaigns.
So what would be the biggest road block(s) I would have to deal with? I know I have to update several of the monsters stats and the saving throws with traps.
I'm thinking of this issue myself since I have a few books from older editions that I don't want to just throw out.
Keep in mind that Legendary Resistance is a concept in 5e that doesn't exist in previous editions. Tougher monsters like vampires, demon lords, and anything that you want as the "final boss" of dungeon should have Legendary Resistance. Also, in previous editions, some monsters had immunity to magical weapons below a certain level of magical bonus. Immunity to non-magical weapons is still here, but the stuff about +2 vs. +3 weapons is gone. The fact that a lot of spells require concentration also changes the power level of spellcaster NPCs a lot from previous editions. So instead, many of the tougher monsters (like Dragons) now have Lair Actions.

Just adjust encounter, trap, and DC difficulty and remove references to mechanics that don't exist anymore or were changed.
