Hello, i'm wondering what actully happens when someone with class levels gets possessed.
it is written "Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the creature, though you retain your alignment and your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You retain the benefit of your own class features. If the target has any class levels, you can't use any of its class features."
My question is do passive class features apply to you? because it only says you cant activly use them.
A class feature is anything that is listed as a feature under the class entry in the handbook, including things like spellcasting for Sorcerers, a rogue’s sneak attack, or yes - a paladin’s aura of protection.
Any feature that a creature with class levels would get as part of its level progression is not given to you after possessing them with Magic Jar. Passive features are still ‘used’ - they’re just being used all the time. There is no distinction.
If they don’t have class levels though, any features they have are fair game. Such as a Thug’s ‘Pack Tactics’ for example.

Exampels for this would be:
Paladin lvl 6 - Aura of Protection
Artificer lvl 20 - Soul of Artifice
