Setup - An invisible creature that appears only to attack and then vanishes as a bonus action
Players want to have ready-attacks so "when the creature appears, I will attack".
Let's suppose the player has a bow ready to launch the arrow, but he's facing north (for example). Then, the creature appears behind him. He doesn't see the creature, but hears some noise. CAN he turn around and have his attack normally?
As wolf of bees said, facing is an optional rule. So, by RAW, it wouldn't matter which direction the enemy comes from, everyone is essentially facing every direction at all times.
If you're going to use facing, that's the kind of thing to work out in session 0

Facing is an optional rule. See the DMG for more information.
