the discreption says:Starting at 6th level, when you cast a spell that deals damage of the type associated with your draconic ancestry, you can add your Charisma modifier to one damage roll of that spell. At the same time, you can spend 1 sorcery point to gain resistance to that damage type for 1 hour.
lf l use, say, scorching ray, does that mean that l can put the CH mod to roll one,but not roll 2 or 3. also do i have to say which roll l am adding the mod to before or after l roll the 3? cause lt would be usefull to have, say, a spread of:2,6&12 would l be able to put the mod onto the 2 to make it better after the 3 rolls,or would l have to pick #1 b4 rolling and hope it can be buffed? though it says the mod gets added to the damage roll,so l know that (in this hypothical)each of the 3 hits,so l guess it does not matter which one gets buffed, cause the mod will still add a +# to any one of them,so the attack damage is still gonna be the same. that said the question still stands, when do l add the mod,b4 or after the roll?

You can only add the bonus to one damage roll, so if you choose to add to the first attack, you can't add it to the second or third. You do have the option of not using it on the first attack though.

You can't roll all three attacks and then decide. The attacks happen in order and once you've applied damage to the enemy's HP you're done with that damage roll and it's too late to change it.
You roll the attacks 1 at a time. Attack 1, damage 1, attack 2, damage 2, attack 3, damage 3. You choose targets at the time you make the attack roll (so you can target 1 enemy until it dies, then target a second). You apply the bonus damage after you roll damage, but before it is applied.
Hopefully that covers everything.
