I know that True Polymorph and Clone has been talked about and is possible RAW, but what about Shapechange and Clone? Could the Clone spell be used on your Shapechanged self as to keep your class features vs TP?
I'd say no as well because of the phrase "as a safeguard against death"; if you shapechange into a creature then you are still yourself, albeit in a new form, when that creature is reduced to zero hit-points it doesn't "die", your form just reverts back to normal.
The only creature involved that can actually die, and thus the only component that can be cloned is the base Druid/Wizard who cast the spell.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Well then, I suppose I'll just have to use Wish if I want to keep my class features, and hope the GM will allow it. Seeing as most people play up to level 10-15 anyway, I personally don't see why not if all that's left is the BBEG.

I would say no, because clone clones the creature, not the spells cast on them.
Plus it is certainly not intended...

It's seems to work as written
