So. My character is a lvl 5 Cleric who gained the Magic Initiate Feat(http://dnd5ed.*******.com/feat:magic-initiate), and I selected Genie Warlock. Would I be able to cast the lvl 2-5 spells from the Genie's expanded spell list(without any other warlock benefits), or am I just grasping at straws?

The feat only mentions ONE level one spell.
"Choose a class: bard, cleric, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard. You learn two cantrips of your choice from that class's list. In addition, you learn one 1st level spell from the same list. You can cast it at its lowest level; once cast, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest. Your spellcasting modifier for these spells is the same as the class you chose (Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid; Intelligence for wizard)."
You choose a spellcasting class: bard, cleric, sorcerer, warlock or wizard. Genie warlock isn't an option. You then look at the spell list for the chosen class and pick two cantrips and one first level spell that you can then cast ONCE/long rest using the ability provided by this feat.
This is all magic initiate does. It provides access to two cantrip and one first level spell once/day. It does not provide access to any other spells of any other levels.

There's a whole lot to unpack here, but we'll get you set straight. First, taking the Magic Initiate (Warlock) feat does not make you a Warlock. It does not count as having class levels as a Warlock, and it does not mean your character is multi-classed. It does not give you the spellcasting ability of a Warlock, nor does it give you access to the Warlock's spell list.
The feat does exactly 3 things:
You learn two cantrips (level 0) from the standard Warlock spell list.
You learn one 1st level spell from the standard Warlock spell list, and you can cast this spell once per long rest at its lowest level (which is level 1).
The spellcasting ability for these spells is Charisma.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.

Subclass spells are added to a class' spell list for that subclass only. Magic Initiate will only give you access to the default class spell list.
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

Alright, that clears things up a lot, thanks
