In our game someone recently started their turn prone, used half movement to stand attacked had a nat 1 and the dm had the character trip and go prone again. Since the character hadn't used any other movement they then used the rest of their movement to stand again. Based on the RAW of prone this seems correct. But we are a reasonably new campaign and just wanted to double check.
So tldr can you be prone stand up go prone and stand up again all in one turn as long as you make no other movement?
I’ll point out that tripping on a natural 1 is already a house rule, so you’re outside of RAW territory from the start. That said, assuming there are no other personal rules modifications your DM is using, yeah, if you don’t use your movement for anything else on your turn, you can rise from being prone twice.

Half movement, action, half movement... sounds right to me.

Seems totally reasonable and fair.
