Ok so I was thinking about the Chronurgist’s Convergent Future feature, and I was dreaming up ways to abuse it when it hit me that, if your attack bonus is low enough, the lowest possible roll to succeed would be a Nat 20. I have a lot of crunchy stuff below if anyone’s interested.
Just so you all know, this is a joke, I know how stupid this build is, I just thought of it and decided to make it as powerful as possible. That being said, I’d love to hear any comment about making this build more powerful.
The Build:
Half Orc
Wizard 14 (Chronurgist)
Sorcerer 4 (quicken meta magic)
Tempest Cleric 2
Feats: Great Weapon Master
Make sure to keep your strength at 10 or lower.
As for the other level, it doesn’t matter what you choose, but you can’t get martial weapon proficiency or it ruins the build. Also, keep in mind that this only works against creatures with 15 AC or higher, but by level 17 most things will have high AC.
How it works: you’ll want one turn beforehand to cast haste on yourself, you don’t need to but if you don’t then you are missing out on 30 damage. Assuming you have haste precasted, what you do on your turn is cast Booming blade or greenflame blade, attacking with a greataxe, and since your attack bonus should be -5, you use convergent future to roll the lowest possible dice roll that allows you to hit, which will be 20 if their ac is 15 or higher. So that makes you crit. So in total you were doing 1d12 + 10 + 3d8, double the dice and add the half orc brutal critical, that's 3d12 +10 + 6d8. Use quicken to cast your SCAGtrip again, convergent futuring, and we’re up to 6d12 + 20 + 12d8. Use your haste action to make another weapon attack. In total, we’re up to 9d12 + 30 + 12d8. (For optimal single target damage, make sure at least one of the SCAGtrips you casted was booming blade, then use thunder cleric’s channel divinity to maximise the damage.) That's an average of 163.5 damage. (If you had two targets within 5 ft of each other, use your action for twin booming blade, and quicken greenflame blade, hitting one with maxed booming blade and haste attack, and the other with normal booming blade and greenflame blade, for 6d12 + 25 + 3d8 + 48 to one, and, 6d12 + 20 + 12d8 to the other which is 125.5 to the first one, and 123 to the second.)
The best part is, you automatically deal the damage, without expending any resources except a few sorcery points and channel divinity. Oh yeah, and 3 levels of exhaustion that can’t be cured by magic.
I have another version of the build too:
Half orc
10 str or below
Wizard 14(chronurgist)
Hexblade 1
Paladin 2
Fighter 3 (battlemaster)
Feat: Greatweapon master
So this one is a little harder to pull off, because you get proficiency with a greataxe now you need the enemy to have 21 ac or higher so it doesn’t work on many things, but you can stack more damage on.
First round: cast tenser’s transformation on yourself, use your bonus action to use hexblades curse.
Next round: this is when you attack. You get 2 attacks per action with tenser's transformation, so you action surge and take 4 attacks. Your still using convergent future for autocrits, so each attack does 3d12(brutal critical) + 10 + 6(hexblades curse) + 2d8(BM maneuver) + 10d8(smite with 5th level slots) + 4d12(extra damage from tenser’s) for an average of 115.5 per attack, meaning you get 462 damage in one turn. This build uses an 8th, 7th, 6th, and 2 5th level spell slots, which is all of your spell slots higher than 4th, not to mention hexblade’s curse, action surge, all of your superiority dice, as well as gives you 4 exhaustion level, so its very resource intensive but its almost triple the damage of the other build. You could get this to work on ac 16 or below if you found a way to give yourself a 1 in strength

Unfortunately this wouldn’t work. Convergent future is a reaction, which mean only 1 per round.
Darn, you’re right. Oh well, it was a joke anyway.

Lol I was thinking of things to do with it. Sure would be funny to see the 8 strength wizard get a nat 20 with a great axe.
Was part of the joke making the font size really small? lol
Oh sorry, I’m new to dndbeyond and I was trying figure out how to make there be less space in between paragraphs
