Honestly, that's about it. If you want mundane explosives, you're pretty much out of luck. There's some rules for fairly weak period-appropriate explosives in the DMG, but no further support. D&D is built to support sword-and-sorcery type combat; handheld explosives are outside of the metaphor.
This is something you could do by reskinning things. Go wizard or maybe sorcerer since they have the AoE spells. Only flavor it as, it’s not a spell of cloudkill, it’s a flask you throw that makes a poison gas. Ice knife is a cold bomb, etc. Aganazzar’s Scorcher could be a flask of something you shake up and spray. Just check with your DM about it and say you want it to be purely cosmetic. I know I’d let you, I’d hope most DMs would.
I'd probably use both. Multiclass Artillerist Artificer with wizard then reflavor to your heart's content. Arcane firearm can easily be reflavored to a firearm. If you actually find a gun then your DM might let you use the repeating shot infusion to save you from having to load it. Scorching ray would be a mini-bomb launcher that fires 3 bursts. Fireball would be some sort of grenade launcher. The material component needed for the spells would be a multi-purpose bomb launcher (arcane focus reflavored). Shatter would be a specially designed concussion grenade.
Assuming your DM is ok with all the reflavoring then you should be able to get what you are looking for between the two classes.
I mean... Artillerist has the ability to self-destruct your Eldritch Cannon built right into the subclass, and the Artillerist spells it comes with can pretty easily be reflavored into specialized explosives: Thunderwave, Shatter, Fireball. Even Wall of Fire and Ice Storm could be reflavored as highly specialized explosives.
It's also kind of funny to reflavor things in a dumb way. I was playing a one-shot with my friends and one of the players was an Artillerist who treated every single spell they cast as a specialized bullet. Every. Single. One. One of the players was down and their response was, "I load up a Cure Wounds bullet into my gun, then press the barrel against their temple and fire".
I`ve been looking for a while, and all I could come up with was artillerist or Evoker. I loke bomb-based characters, so I was looking for some help.
