I read somewhere but have since lost the source that if a character using Conjure Animals loses concentration, the animals go hostile. Not dispelled, or otherwise sent away but if the original caster were to have their concentration broken that the summoned creatures attacked her/ or everyone around. Are there links to official responses?
"If your concentration is broken, the elemental doesn't disappear. Instead, you lose control of the elemental, it becomes hostile toward you and your companions, and it might attack. An uncontrolled elemental can't be dismissed by you, and it disappears 1 hour after you summoned it."
Thank you, this helps immensely. The druid in question is my wife....and I am not comfortable on the couch.... And you are absolutely correct, I had crossed the streams on Conjure Elemental.
To add slightly about this, each different "conjure x "spell states in its own text what happens to the creatures when the spell ends. For druids, conjure elemental and conjure fey are the ones where you lose control of the creatures when the spell ends, whereas conjure woodland beings, conjure minor elementals, and conjure animals disappear when the spell ends. Other spells on other lists also say, for example the cleric spell conjure celestial or the spell summon greater demon both have the creatures disappear as well.
Hello,

Thx,

Conjure Animals states,
"Each beast is also considered fey, and it disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends."
When Concentration is lost, the spell ends and the creatures vanish.
However, you may be thinking of Conjure Elemental, which states,
"If your concentration is broken, the elemental doesn't disappear. Instead, you lose control of the elemental, it becomes hostile toward you and your companions, and it might attack. An uncontrolled elemental can't be dismissed by you, and it disappears 1 hour after you summoned it."
