Question about using the Animating Performance ability of the College of Creation Bard. There seems to be a major verbiage difference that makes the Bard ability far more interesting than the spell Animate Items. The spell specifies that it can only be cast on items that are not being held or worn. The Bard ability does not specify this. Can I use this Bard ability to animate someone else's cloak and make it grapple them / interfere with their spell casing or other actions? Make it wrap around their head and blind them? Or Animate their sword and make it attack them?
This would seem to work but ultimately would be up to your DM if they allowed it. But RAW nothing stops u you out from animating an object worn or carried.
In your examples, the cloak could try and grapple, and although has 18 STR it does not have proficiency in athletics so basically a straight STR check apprised to the target. And as for the sword, since it is being held I could see doing a STR check vs the targets STR athletics so they could grapple the sword and try to keep it at bay.
