So I have an artificer and they questioned making the infused item it becomes an arcane focus. Is there a price limit? I’m not sure how to answer. If it’s consumed then they need they item but if they just need 50g pearl that isn’t consumed does the focus work? If he makes a bag of holding to use as a arcane focus it’s roughly 500g. Is his arcane focus worth up to 500g? This seems dumb but i don’t know how to answer.
The value of a spellcasting focus has no effect on game mechanics because a focus cannot replace components with a value. So for example, neither a wand worth 10gp or a wand worth 10,000gp can replace a component that's a diamond worth at least 500 gp.

Unless the wand itself has a 500 gp diamond on it of course.
if I edit a message, most of the time it's because of grammar. The rest of the time I'll put "Edit:" at the bottom.
Cost of the focus doesn't matter. Magic item focuses are worth easily 500gp at uncommon rarity and 100× that at very rare.
You would have to remove the diamond from the focus, thus rendering the focus no longer a focus
