The UA Psionic Soul bloodline had a sorcerous origin that attributed the Psionic powers to exposure to the feywild: Deep in a forest touched by the Feywild, you drank from a glimmering stream, and now your mind shines with power. Beasts and fey creatures are often now friendly to you, as if they can sense the light within you.
I’m looking for additional Aberrant Mind origins along this line for my character. (He is a Trollkin (Tasha’s custom lineage, essentially a troll/gnome hybrid) from the Feydark.)
I created an Eladrin Aberrant Mind sorcerer for our Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign. My original intention was for her to have a run in with an Archfey who somehow left a psychic imprint on her. Consider using Psilofyr the Carrion King who is supposed to rule over the Feydark. I got this off GM Binder https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MXITAFU6vC2psGs_OdY so its not completely cannon but it might be what you are looking for.
"Psilofyr rules over all of the Feydark and the myconids. Not one, but many, Psilofyr could manifest anywhere he pleased as a fungal form. Well known for his philosophy of renewal via decomposition and his hospitality. Though his mind became frayed the more versions of himself he created, they all mostly held the same values of regrowth and helping those with peaceful intentions. However, sometimes versions of him would become corrupted and seek to do the exact opposite of his desires and it isn’t uncommon for him to request to destroy these rogue Psilofyrs."
Archfey Magic. You can speak with plants as per the Speak with Plants spell. Additionally, you gain advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks to interact with fungus and myconoids.
This is a great idea, actually. It would make sense that a character wandering the feydark might be influenced by the Carrion King without realizing it. I’m definitely going to work him into my backstory.
